Dear Evergreen Parents:
Our school and district are committed to continuous improvement, therefore every school in our district develops and implements a School Improvement Plan. To develop this plan we analyze data from a variety of sources – including student performance trends, state comparisons and staff & parent perception surveys – to identify improvement goals that are specific, data-driven and measurable. To help our school understand our strengths and challenges in areas known to impact educational effectiveness we would appreciate your input on how we are doing.
The online link below is a multiple-choice survey. We ask that you please complete and submit the survey by March 30, 2017. If you have more than one child in the Everett School District you may complete a survey for each school your children attend. Please complete each survey so that all of your children’s schools will benefit from your feedback.
The survey questions were developed by the Center for Educational Effectiveness, a Bellevue, Washington-based educational research firm, in collaboration with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction for Washington State. As a cost savings measure, our district has moved away from paper surveys, to electronic versions made available to parents.
We truly appreciate your time and participation. Your feedback is very important to our ongoing school improvement efforts as we work to make our school the very best for our students.

The KNOW HIV/STD Prevention Education and “GET REAL” Sex Education will be taught in two sessions this year beginning with Session 1 one in March and Session 2 in May. This is a State Mandated Curriculum that will be taught to all PE students in 6th/7th/8th Grade classes. Key concepts that will be introduced are Female/Male Anatomy, Puberty, STD/HIV Transmission and prevention, Abstinence and Protection Methods, Sexual Identity (7th + 8th only), and Refusal skills. If you would like to view the curriculum and key concepts prior to your child taking the class, all information will be available during the February 22nd PTA meeting at 6:45. If you would like to request to excuse your student from the HIV Prevention Education, please pick up a green “Request to Excuse” form from the main office, your child’s PE teacher, or during the PTA meeting.

After School Reminder!
As cold weather arrives and the afternoons get dark early we worry about our students getting home safely each day. Evergreen MS is a closed campus from 30 minutes after school ends until 4:30pm each day—it is only an open campus after 4:30 pm to allow for evening sports to occur. We expect every student to promptly leave campus at the end of each day, unless the student is staying for an after school program that is supervised by an adult, like Study Club or an extra-curricular activity. The students participating in after school clubs or study club may take the Activity Bus home at 3:10 pm. Students that participate in sports may take the Athletic Bus home at 4:30 pm. If your student is not involved in athletics, then they should not return to school at 4:30 to meet with friends. Our #1 priority is student safety and therefore prefer for them to be home when it is dark, cold, and school-related activities are done.
