We will begin with a brief overview of common core (history, myths, etc.) and then we will have break out groups.
There will be three 20 minute sessions where parents can choose to go to an elementary or secondary literacy specialist, math specialist, or science specialist. The specialists will present the parents a "lesson" so they can see how common core is applies and how they can support their students. We will also have special education representatives available.
We will end with a brief summary and a check in with parents to see what they learned.
We, at North Middle School, believe that developing a sense of belonging and forming closer, more positive relationships will create a safer social and emotional environment for staff, students, and their families. We believe that implementing an integrated standards-based curriculum will lead to higher academic achievement.
