Hello Heatherwood families,
Educational Effectiveness Survey: There is still time to give us feedback by completing the Educational Effectiveness Survey either online at https://www.research.net/r/eps-parent-2017 or via pencil/paper. Pencil and paper surveys can be returned to 7th period teachers. We want to hear from 100% of our families!
8th Grade Transition Meetings: Wednesday, March 29th is 8th Grade Transition. During this time Jackson HS Staff will meet with each 8th grader and their family to go over registration forms and course work at a pre-arranged time in the Heatherwood library. HMS staff will assist in these meetings. We look forward to seeing 8th grade parents on Wednesday!
Special School Board Meeting to discuss enrollment in the Southern Region will be held at Jackson High School on March 30th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Friday, March 31st Regular Schedule: This Friday is a full-day. Students will be released at 2:50 p.m.
Smarter Balanced Assessment/Measurement of Student Progress: State assessments will begin on April 11th with 7th and 8th Graders taking the English Language Arts assessment during their regularly scheduled English classes. 6th Graders will begin the English Language Arts assessment on April 25th during their regularly scheduled English classes. Math and Science testing (8th grade only for Science) will begin in May. Specific details about SBA/MSP testing will be posted on Heatherwood’s website this week. We ask that parents make efforts to avoid making appointments during the school day while testing is underway.
Track and Field: The first practice for Track is March 30th. Boys and Girls in grades 7-8 interested must submit all forms at https://everettschools.rankonesport.com/Main/Default2.aspx?Type=4. Athletics and ASB fees can be paid online through the Heatherwood website or in the main office Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm. 6th grade students may be allowed to participate if space is available: any 6th grader who is allowed to participate can practice with the team but cannot participate in meets.

ASB Fundraiser updates: Last week prizes were distributed to students who sold a minimum of 2 items for the fundraiser. Students who have not claimed their prizes yet should do so at the main office before school, after school or during passing time. On Friday, March 31 all students who sold a minimum of 2 items will be invited to the cafeteria during period 7 to play "Minute to Win It!" During this series of short games, students can be eligible to earn more prizes for participating in the fundraiser. And for students who sold 10 or more items: Save the date of May 25, as we are planning our visit to bowl and have root beer floats at Glacier Lanes that afternoon.
Spring Break is April 3-7. School is closed.
Visitors Sign-In: If you are visiting our school for any purpose (meeting with a teacher, dropping off lunch, or adding money to your student’s lunch account) please sign in at the office and get a visitor’s badge. Visitors to the school are not permitted beyond the main office/foyer area without a visitor’s badge. Parents, this is extremely important for school safety reasons and we appreciate your support!
