Meet the Cabinet

Gary Cohn
Gary Cohn
Superintendent, since July 2009. He was superintendent of Port Angeles School District, vice president at Lake Washington Technical College, and a teacher and administrator in the Lake Washington and Northshore school districts. Gary holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Puget Sound, a Master of Business Administration from Seattle University, a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Washington, and Washington State teaching, principal, and superintendent certificates. Before education, Gary worked in marketing for an international technology manufacturer.
Joyce Stewart
Joyce Stewart 
Deputy Superintendent, since 2016. Joyce is responsible for supervising schools, leading teacher and principal professional development, on-time graduation, and college and career readiness. Joyce taught 19 years in private and public schools in Montana, Minnesota, and Washington, served as Madison Elementary principal for three years, and Evergreen Middle School principal for nine years. She studied at Carroll College in Montana, St. Thomas University and Walden University in Minnesota, and Seattle University, City University, and Western Washington University in Washington State.
Peter Scott
Peter Scott
Associate Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment and Special Programs, since 2016. Peter served as assistant superintendent for teaching and learning supervising south region schools, principal at Gateway Middle School and assistant principal at Evergreen Middle. He began his career teaching middle school special education and mathematics in Oakland, California’s and Boston, Massachusetts’s public schools. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California at Davis, a Master of Education from Harvard University and a Doctor of Education from the University of Washington. 
Larry Fleckenstein
Larry Fleckenstein
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, since 2016. Larry supports south region schools. Larry formerly was principal at Evergreen Middle School and assistant principal at Cascade High School. He began his career in Vancouver, Washington, teaching biology, chemistry, and AP biology at the high school level, and oversaw a district magnet school program in science, math and technology. Larry holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Portland, and is currently attending Graduate School at Washington State University.
Sally Lancaster
Sally Lancaster
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, since 2016. Sally supports the central region schools. Sally formerly was principal at Everett High School and Sequoia High School. She began her career as a teacher at Lowell Elementary teaching grades 2-5 and serving as the library media specialist.  Sally also was an instructional technology specialist and started Everett's OnlineHS program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Central Washington University, a Master of Education from University of Washington, and a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Washington State University. 
Executive Director of Special Services, since 2015. Becky was a Seattle Public Schools special education consulting teacher, project manager, director and interim executive director. In New York, Becky served as an Oneida School District special education teacher, and a junior/senior high teacher in Marathon, New York. Becky earned a Bachelor of Arts in Exceptional and Elementary Education at State University College of Buffalo, a Master of Science in Leadership and Instruction from Syracuse University’s Utica College, and  administrator credentials from the University of Washington.
 Mike Gunn

Executive Director of Facilities and Operations, since 2009. Mike is responsible for facilities and planning, maintenance operations, and community services. Before coming to the district, Mike spent 12 years in private architecture, construction, and engineering on commercial, retail and institutional projects. Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design from the University of Washington, a Washington State architect’s license, and is a member of the Council of Educational Facilities Planners, International.
Executive Director of Human Resources, since 2014. Before Everett, Debbie served North Thurston Public Schools in various human resources roles before becoming Executive Director of Human Resources. With a breadth of human resources knowledge, she brings statewide perspective of public education, having served the Association of Washington School Principals for 10 years before working with North Thurston. Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University, and is pursuing graduate studies in public administration.       
Jeff Moore
Executive Director of Finance and Business Services, since 2009. Jeff is responsible for budget, finance, student transportation, and food service operations. He previously held director of finance and director of construction positions, managing conversion to new software systems supporting fiscal and personnel operations, and supervising facilities projects. Before joining the district, he was an associate partner in a local architecture firm where he was responsible for major school and hospital construction projects. Jeff holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Architecture from Washington State University.
Dana Riley Black   Executive Director for STEM, Partnerships, & Legislation, since 2016. Dana leads the district’s kindergarten-through-high-school STEM work, strategic partnerships, and legislative relations. Previously, she was Director of Logan Center for Education, Institute for Systems Biology. Earlier she worked for Harvard University, the Smithsonian Institution, as well as the University of Washington where she established UW’s K-12 Institute for Mathematics and Science Education. Dana earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington, a Masters in Education in Science Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Studies from Miami University.

Brian Beckley

Chief Information Officer, since 2016. Brian leads the Learning and Information Technology Services Department. Brian is returning to Everett after spending the past 10 years in Arlington School District as the principal at Post Middle School and Arlington High School. While in Everett he was the Assistant Principal at Evergreen Middle School. He began his educational career in Stanwood teaching middle school English, Literature, and Social Studies and spent several years as a high school counselor. Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Washington State University. He earned principal and superintendent certifications at Western Washington University.
Leanna Albrecht   
Leanna Albrecht
Director of Communications, since 2016. Leanna is responsible for the district's strategic communications and media relations. Before joining the district, she served as communications director for the Northshore School District, which included school, family and community partnerships and community engagement. Prior to that, she was director of public information for Tacoma Public Schools. Leanna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Washington University.
