What is a Digital Footprint?

What do you want the virtual word to say about you in 10 years? in 20 years? right now?

Filling out a form, sending an email to a friend, posting a photo, and pretty much everything one does online — even the simple act of visiting a website or using a search engine — leaves a trail. This trail, called a digital footprint, is made of bits and pieces of information on one's computer and on other computers and servers around the world, which allow other people to learn about you.

Part of being a good digital citizen is ensuring that the digital footprint you leave behind is one that enhances your personal e-reputation.

Digital Literacy is an important part of our current landscape and this spring Everett Public Schools is focusing on educating students, staff and families about their digital footprints. Learn more about what it means to consider privacy and security as we traverse the exciting landscape of the internet.
