Mar. 28, 2024: Everett High Arts Educator named Mayor's Arts Award recipient
Sara Coiley, the theatre teacher at Everett High School, has been chosen as a recipient of the 2023 Arts Awards by both the mayor and the cultural arts commission.

Mar. 1, 2024: Woodside Elementary hosts inaugural PE Parent Week
Parents at Woodside Elementary were invited to attend their student’s physical education class with them for the first-ever “PE Parent Week.” They came to school dressed to participate in the activity, with a water bottle in hand. After introductions, classes engaged in a challenge run, four corners’ Rock/Paper/Scissors, Battleship, or “Oscars Trashcan.”

Feb. 26, 2024: Grant supports story pole project at Forest View
Tate Loftin’s fourth and fifth grade highly capable class at Forest View Elementary recently finished a culminating project that took a deep dive into the culture each of its 26 students, a project that would not have been possible without grant funding from the Everett Public Schools Foundation (EPSF).

Feb. 21, 2024: Everett Public Schools hosts annual empower to lead summit
Everett Public Schools will host its annual social justice summit, Empower to Lead, on Friday, February 23 at the Community Resource Center. Presented by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department, the event’s goal is to promote awareness, networking and inclusion around the issues of social justice leading to increased student sense of belonging and positive action in their school community.

Feb. 20, 2024: CTE Signature STEM program removes barriers
The Career and Technical Education (CTE) department at Everett Public Schools (EPS) is changing the standard high school model to fit the needs of our changing world with the creation of the Signature STEM program. This program removes the barrier of a student’s home school by providing transportation for those who would like to pursue courses in specific career paths offered at only one high school, giving equitably accessible to all students across the district.

Feb. 12, 2024: MPMEA honors two Everett Public Schools music educators
Heatherwood Middle School’s orchestra teacher, Monica Camp, is being awarded with the Music Educator of the Year by the Mount Pilchuck Music Educators Association (MPMEA), a regional division of the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA). The association is also honoring George Moffat with the Jackson High School Music and Arts Booster Club by awarding him the Friend of Music award.

Feb. 8, 2024: Everett Public Schools presents Promoting Healthy Digital Habits
Tuesday, February 6, parents and community members went to Cascade High School to hear University of Washington assistant professor Dr. Magis-Weinberg. The digital world presents both opportunities and risks. While young people today are highly familiar with technology, they cannot simply unlock all its benefits without guidance and support. Additionally, there are measures we can take to prevent online harms from occurring.

Feb. 2, 2024: North Middle School robotics team qualifies for state
North Middle School's robotics team, the Cybernetic Narwhals, are advancing to this weekend’s Washington State championship tournament, the only public middle school team to qualify at this level with all other qualifiers being from high schools and/or private clubs.

Dec. 7, 2023: Everett Public Schools band director inducted into Music Hall of Fame
Lesley Moffat, Heatherwood Middle School band director, has been selected for induction into the Washington Music Education Association (WMEA) Hall of Fame. With an impressive 36-year career in music education, Moffat follows in the footsteps of her parents, Bruce and Jo Caldwell, who are also esteemed members of the WMEA Hall of Fame.

Dec. 6, 2023: Everett Public Schools to join Limitless Learning Network
Everett Public Schools is excited to share, along with Everett Community College and the College Success Foundation, they have been selected as one of 25 regional partnerships to join Limitless Learning Network, which is generously supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Dec. 1, 2023: Appreciation for Director Pam LeSesne's 12 years of service
At the November 28 school board meeting, Pam LeSesne was honored for her contributions serving on the board of directors since 2011.

Nov. 13, 2023: Everett Public Schools board election results
Jen Hirman will continue to serve on the Everett Public Schools board of directors in Position 2. Hirman was appointed to fill the position vacated by April Berg in June of 2022. As board member elect, she will serve the remaining years of the term through 2025. Charles Adkins is the board member elect for Position 5 and will succeed Board Director Pam LeSesne who has served our students the past twelve years.

An OSPI Social Studies NewsFlash email last week alerted Melissa Webster, AP US Government and Politics teacher at Cascade High School, of an opportunity for her students to connect with Governor Jay Inslee in a live Q&A over Zoom.

Oct. 23, 2023: Everett Public Schools board is a 2023 Board of Distinction
The Everett School Board has been selected as a 2023 WSSDA Board of Distinction for presenting exemplary evidence of ongoing professional development, addressing opportunity gaps and practicing governance that reflects the Washington School Board Standards during the 2022-23 school year.

Oct. 19, 2023: Everett Public Schools continues to partner with 4-year institutions
Everett Public Schools is in its second year partnering with the Washington Guaranteed Admissions Program (WAGAP), which guarantees admission to Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, The Evergreen State College, Saint Martin's University, University of Washington Tacoma, Washington State University and Western Washington University, and its first year partnering with the Automatic Admissions Partnership, which guarantees admission to Pacific Lutheran University.

Oct. 16, 2023: Everett Public Schools invests full day on elevating equitable practices
On October 13, a non-student day for the district, Everett Public School employees participated in Learning Improvement Day (LID) sessions on elevating equitable practices. The session topics were centrally developed by our professional learning and diversity, equity, and inclusion departments, and were tightly designed so as to strengthen implementation consistency and common outcomes across the system.

Oct. 16, 2023: Roman Rewolinski to fill Position 1 on Board of Directors
On October 12, the Everett Public Schools (EPS) Board of Directors interviewed five candidates for appointment to Board Position 1 which was vacated in July. The board voted to appoint Roman Rewolinski to Position 1. Mr. Rewolinski will serve as a member of the Board of Directors until that term ends in 2025. At that time, he may choose whether to run for election to serve another term.

Everett Public Schools, with funding from the Everett Public Schools Foundation (EPSF), bring three High School & Beyond opportunities to students and their families to explore options to aid in making informed decisions about future steps after graduation.

Oct. 4, 2023: Grant helps enhance outdoor learning space at Mill Creek Elementary
Mill Creek Elementary was one of 24 schools in the nation to win a $20k grant from Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, the only one in the state, to refresh and build onto the school’s Gratitude Garden.

Oct. 3, 2023: Two of six Art Educators of the Year are from Everett Public Schools
The Washington Art Education Association (WAEA) announced their 2023 Art Educator of the Year award winners, with two of the six educators from Everett Public Schools (EPS). Andrea Aguilera, art teacher at Jefferson Elementary was named Elementary Art Educator of the Year and Tami Coffman, visual and performing arts facilitator P-12, was named Supervision and Administration Art Educator of the Year.

Sept. 27, 2023: Everett High band director wins at international composition contest
Megan Vinther, Everett High School’s band director, won first place at Quadre’s 2023 international composition contest with her piece, “How Can a Girl…” inspired by the number of times she has been questioned about her ability to be successful at her job based on her gender.

Sept. 19, 2023: Hawthorne Elementary's playground gets a makeover
On September 15, 60 volunteers from five different Safran sites located in Everett, Bothell and Marysville, including Nathan Kwok, Safran Cabin’s EVP of Sales and Marketing and Give & Grow Board President, debuted their first “Create” project in Washington State at Hawthorne Elementary.

Sept. 14, 2023: Jackson High students named 2024 National Merit semifinalists
Six Everett Public Schools seniors have been named as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. Rahul Bonthu, Alice Fu, Stephanie Lee, Jaelen Oh, Kovidh Singh and Tiger Sun of Henry M. Jackson High School join over 16,000 semifinalists nationwide who qualified for this prestigious honor.

Sept. 13, 2023: Everett Public Schools celebrates its AP Capstone diploma recipients
At Everett Public Schools, 44 students earned the AP Capstone Diploma. A total of 38 students earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate during the 2022-23 school year. The AP Capstone Diploma program helps students develop the critical thinking, research, collaboration and presentation skills that are critical for academic success.

Aug. 30, 2023: School board process for new board member appointment
School Board Director Andrew Nicholls submitted a letter of resignation to President LeSesne on June 22, 2023, which was accepted during the June 27 regular board meeting. President LeSesne charged the superintendent with starting the process to accept applications for board consideration in accordance with existing board policy and procedure and announced the process and timeline for qualified applicants to submit application materials the board will consider in appointing a successor to Nicholls
